How home support works: a step-by-step guide

Starting a new rhythm at home can feel like a big step. When you have spent years managing everything yourself, welcoming someone new into your space naturally takes some adjustment.

With ilarna, support is not about taking over. It is about having practical help with the parts of daily life that feel heavy, so you can keep your energy for the things that matter most to you. Because you connect directly with an independent, self-employed ilarna Personal Assistant, you stay in control of who comes into your home and how support fits around your life.

Here is how the process works.

Step 1: An introductory conversation

Everything begins with a relaxed, informal conversation. We offer a complimentary introductory chat to help you explore what support at home might look like for you. This is not a formal assessment. It is simply an opportunity to share a bit about your routines, preferences, and what would make day-to-day life feel easier. We will explain how ilarna works and talk through what kind of support might feel right, whether that is a few hours of help each week or something more regular.

Step 2: Finding someone who feels right

With ilarna, you are never assigned an ilarna Personal Assistant. You decide who you would like to work with. Based on what you have shared, we help you view profiles of independent ilarna Personal Assistants in your area. You can take the time to review profiles and, if you wish, have a conversation before deciding. Feeling comfortable with the person you choose is an important part of the process.

Step 3: Direct arrangements, agreed together

You and your ilarna Personal Assistant agree visit times, the kind of help you would like, and the rate directly between you. There are no pre-set packages. If you ever want to change a time, add a visit, or reduce hours, you can talk it through together and update arrangements without going through an agency.

Step 4: Settling into a new rhythm

The first few visits are about finding a pace that feels comfortable. It is a good time to show your ilarna Personal Assistant around your home and talk about the everyday things that matter to you, from routines to personal preferences. Over time, support can begin to feel more natural as you get used to working together in a way that suits you.

Step 5: Staying connected

The ilarna platform is there to support communication and visibility if you choose to use it. ilarna Personal Assistants may share brief notes after visits through the platform, helping you and your family stay informed about how things are going without getting in the way of your independence.
